Fur!!!

Here is the head covered in grey fur.
I gave it a quick trim. I will go back and do a finer job when the body it attached. I decided to make him into a sack puppet.

Now I need to make some ears.

More Foam Head pics.

Foam Howie Head.

Here is how the foam head pattern came out.
Pretty happy with it!

Now onto the fabric pattern. Here is a roughy draft out of scrap fabric.

It fits! Onto the fur!

Patterning!

Now it's time to make the pattern from this sculpt.
I have drawn out where I want the seams to be. Now lets flatten it out.
There's the pattern. I had to add a few more darts.

I had it scaled up to 110%.

Now it's time for foam and fur.

Howie Head Sculpt.

Here is the head sculpt that I am going to make a pattern from.

The ears are going to be made separate and attached later.

Typically I would make the pattern by draping muslin over this form, but I am going to try a new method I learned by coating it with 3-4 layers of liquid latex. Time to let it dry!

The original Howie was a live hand puppet but I am thinking about making the new one into a sack puppet. What do you think?

Howie the Wolf! rebuild.

The old Howie was big and heavy (he also donated his nose to a different puppet) so needles to say is is time for a makeover.... or rather rebuild. See.

His nose was used for the Polar Bear in "The Littlest Snow Monster"

The new Howie is going to be much smaller and closer resemble the caricature of him that is on our Nimals business cards. But I am only going to use materials from my stock.

He is going to look more like this.
